Diggin' right in! The destruction is FREE! (this is the living room on 5/15)

The cork tiles come down.

Pain in the butt mess...let me tell ya.

Knocking out the wall to the right of the fireplace

Eventually, the fireplace will be removed as well...and replaced with a wood stove.

Floors in Dwight's office - they turned out pretty sweet!

After one hellish month of dead cars, injuries and funerals...we are back.
Dwight's office is practically done and it's spring.

The cat lady lives

The walls are two shades of tan...two of each color

As you can see, the doorway and hole in the wall have DISAPPEARED. It's magic I tell ya.

Dwight's new home. :)

Spring is finally here! (4/2) Dwight's office: Almost there :)

Gotta get the cats in here somewhere :)

So, just what DO Maggi and Dwight do on a boring Sunday afternoon? Knock holes in the wall....duh. (2/13)

BB could care less what we do...really

Starting with the living room wallpaper

What the hell IS under those cork tiles anyways?

Don't ask me...Dwight's the one who decided to take out chunk of wall.

Pretty good patch job eh? Can't even tell

Ok...it's been, well, ages since we last posted pics (Today is 2/5/2005)
1. We were camera less until now and 2. We haven't done ton the last 2 1/2 months. Here is our progress thus far.
Basically, the kitchen is mostly done as well as the dining room and my office. The next projects
are to be Dwight's office and the Living Room.

Dining Room with the burlap and ribbon drapes I made

It is amazing this drape is still hanging...the kitten LOVES to climb up and hang from it.

One of the two David Lance Goines prints I bought and made frames for. He is one of my favorite artists.

Still waiting on the $$ to finish off the island around the stove.

Again, waiting on moola to do the island around the stove. Eventually, we want a granite remnent for the island top.

Office with bare walls...I am finishing up a large wall shelf that I will put to the right of my desk.

The stripping of one doorway has morphed into the stripping of ALL of the doorways in the Dining Room
as well as all the base boards...a crappy job, but worth the effort. We are not completely finished with them,
but so far, they are gorgeous.

Rounded corner in the DR...not a horrible patch job

Doorways into the kitchen and hallways...still need to be cleaned.

Only one unfinished base board was found in the DR...easy to stain.

The base boards turned out to be stunning

Half finished patch job...still waiting for the plaster to completely dry before I finish

Close up of stripper in progress...btw, Peel Away stripper is a MIRACLE product!

And YES!...I am a dork. This is a Photoshoped projection of what I think the DR will look like when we finally have the paint up. NO LAUGHING bc I am a dork!!

Ok, I am either extremely tenacious or stupid...after getting the plaster in the dining room ready for the primer,
I thought it would be a great idea to start stripping the paint off the doorways. Egads, what a bloody mess.
But, the wood under all that nasty green (and more green, and white, and cream) is great! So, the primer
has been put on hold until the doorways are stripped and finished. We are nuts.

Also, we have dry fitted the kitchen cabinets and sink (we are still waiting on a final set of drawers
before we can hook it all up) as well as drilled the hole in the floor for the down draft on the stove. Hopefully,
this weekend we will get the final cabinet and stainless table to finish the room off. 2 months with no
stove or sink is killing us.

Nasty, nasty business

Hole in the dining room from the chimney stove I need to patch.

The space to the left of the dishwasher is the area to be filled with the cabinet we are waiting for.

Tool used to cut the hole in floor.

Here they are...the FLOORS! They turned out kick ass if I do say so.

BEFORE

AFTER

Ok...It's been a while. It's not that we haven't been doing work - I had a bit of a camera snafu and haven't been able to post.
The following pictures are from last week before we had the floors in the kitchen and dining room done.
I will update tomorrow with new pics of the floors and kitchen countertop which I have sanded down and refinished as well.

The next step will be to put in the kitchen sink base, countertop and new sink, the kitchen island with oven/stove and
finally finish off the kitchen in time for Thanksgiving.

Just a bit of info on the floors...these were a complete surprise to us both.

After taking up numerous (like 5) layers of nasty flooring we hit the subfloor...it was still a bit high so we popped a piece up...

Only to find amazing maple floors...trust me...the refinished floor is beautiful.

Cali, our eldest.

After a bit of a break while we waited on the drywaller and electrician to work their magic...it's time to finish up the
kitchen! Drywall and lighting is done - and man, doesn't it look like a whole different room!

Dwight with the new shop vac...had to get a butt shot in there :)

The following are from this weekend (9/11 and 9/12)...we got a ton done. My office is finished and the kitchen
is completely ready for the drywaller and electrician to show up this week. Hopefully by next week,
the kitchen will be almost done as well.

Dwight on his new laptop in the living room...taking a break to look up the cost of a new dishwater

The 3 nasty layers of linoleum in the kitchen is UP!

Took Dwight 8 hours on Sat to get it all up, we used a rental machine from Home Depot

The metal cabinets under the sink are also torn out...thanks to the saws all

A fire in the fireplace...this is the view from the couch

My office is done!

And yes, that is bright ass orange - two shades to be exact. Alternating on the walls.

Office looking into dining room

For anyone who cares, the oranges are similar to PMS 157 and 158

This damn closet too the longest to do...long long time.

Floors will be redone eventually.

The following are from 9/10/04 - almost two weeks from the day we moved in...
big items that have been done...all the carpet in the whole house ripped out, bedroom finished
(well practically) kitchen demolished and office started...
to come, finish kitchen, start on dining room and living room...take a breather. whew
